Jockey Club Multicultural Carer Support Network
Due to language and cultural barriers, needs of elderly carers from multicultural backgrounds could not be addressed by mainstream elderly services in Hong Kong. They have been entering heavy stress in their caring journey. In light of the difficulties faced by elderly carers from multicultural backgrounds, the “Jockey Club Multicultural Carer Support Network”, a three-year project has been launched since January 2025 by Hong Kong Christian Service with the support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
In collaboration with the Sau Po Centre on Ageing, the University of Hong Kong, the project aims at piloting a service model in providing culturally responsive service for elderly carers from multicultural backgrounds. In addition, the project also aims at raising public awareness on the needs of elderly carers from multicultural backgrounds and promoting the creation of a culturally friendly community.
