Regarding the suspected injury incident at Pario Kindergarten (hereinafter referred to as "the school"), we provide the following statement:
The school was notified by a parent about their granddaughter's injury on 4 November. Police contacted the school on 5 November to investigate the situation, and the school has fully cooperated with the police.
To prioritise student safety as our top priority in operating schools, we have established a comprehensive framework of child safeguarding policies, mechanisms, and measures. These include comprehensive CCTV monitoring throughout the premises, regular inspections and classroom observations, staff supervision, and recurrent professional training, all aimed at creating a secure and nurturing learning environment.
The school promptly activated its protocols to investigate the cause of the student's injury. It will maintain close communication with the Education Bureau, the Social Welfare Department, and other relevant agencies. The staff member involved has been placed on temporary leave to ensure an impartial investigation can be conducted.
Since the incident occurred, a social worker has been arranged to follow up on the family's needs and provide support. The school will continue to communicate openly and transparently with all stakeholders as it conducts a thorough review of the incident. We are deeply concerned about this incident and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of every student within our school.
