Jockey Club S.A.T.H. Project for Healthy Families

 

Introduction

Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the three-year project Jockey Club S.A.T.H. Project for Healthy Families has been launched since October 2021. The project is coordinated by The Chinese University of Hong Kong - The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, co-organised by Hong Kong Christian Service, Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre. This project aims to provide culturally appropriate health information for ethnic minorities and to enhance their capacity in health management. The project also promotes connection among ethnic minorities, health professionals and social service providers so as to achieve "Sustainability for All, Together for Health".

 

Service Objectives

  • Enhancing the capacity of ethnic minorities in health management by improving health literacy access to existing health services;
  • Improving the resilience of ethnic minority families towards the COVID-19 pandemic and future outbreaks;
  • Building up the capacity of social welfare and medical sectors to support the health needs of ethnic minority families.

 

Service Contents

  • Health assessment and interview;
  • Referral and follow-up of high-risk service users or families;
  • Health promotion talks and programmes;
  • Health management workshops;
  • Cultural sensitivity training for healthcare professionals;
  • Health care training for social service providers.

 

Service Targets

Residents from ethnic minority groups (primarily South Asian families) in Yau Tsim Mong, Shamshuipo, Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung (except for foreign domestic helpers and non-refoulement claimants)

Service Charge

Free of charge

 

 

Withdrawal

  • Service users can withdraw from the service by giving verbal or written notification to the Team; 
  • Service users can contact the Team for withdrawal from groups or programmes.
