Home Care Support Service for Ethnic Minority Elderly
Introduction
In view of the growth of the ageing population of ethnic minorities, their long-term community needs cannot be satisfied by existing elderly mainstream services due to language barriers and cultural differences. "Home Care Support Service for Ethnic Minority Elderly" Project has been launched for 2 years from November 2024 to October 2026 with generous support from the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund, Kerry Group and Oxfam Hong Kong.
It aims at recruiting and training full-time and part-time multicultural care workers to provide home care services for needy ethnic minority elderly. Meanwhile, the direct service experience will be shared to mainstream service providers to enhance their competence in serving ethnic minority elders.
Objectives
- To improve the quality of life of Pakistani, Nepalese and Indian elderly and their caregivers with low- income family by providing home care services.
- To equip the capacities of multicultural care worker in providing services for ethnic minority elderly.
- To strengthen Pakistani, Nepalese and Indian elderly's social support networks in the community.
- To enhance cultural competence of mainstream community care elderly service providers in serving Pakistani, Nepalese and Indian elderly.

- Aged 60 or above Pakistan, Nepalese and Indian elderly in the community
- Unemployed Pakistani, Nepalese and Indian adult
