Work-based Child Care Centre – Airport Preschool

Work-based Child Care Centre – Airport Preschool

Introduction

The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) is committed to practise social responsibilities and home-friendly policies. In March 2017, AA launched its first preschool in Hong Kong International Airport to enhance the welfare of its staff. Airport Preschool is managed by Hong Kong Christian Service, which provides education and care for children under age 3. The school aims to provide holistic development to infants and toddlers by building a safe, comfortable and interactive environment for children to learn from one another and to grow up happily.

Our school has researched and designed an integrated curriculum for infants and toddlers based on curriculum theories, preschool children development theories and the Infant/toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS-R) regarding children’s learning environment and quality of programmes. We value children’s games and their variety as a catalyst for children’s learning. We therefore use games to nurture independent exploration and sensory skills of preschool children. We promote language development through games with mixed ages on a daily basis to nurture mutual respect, cooperation and creative thinking. It is our hope that parents can partner with us by participating in the games with their children. Through positive feedback, life demonstrations and interactivity, children will feel love and care. They will develop positive character and grow up happily.
