"Make a Wish Come True Program" Introduction

To help the underprivileged to make their humble wishes come true, Hong Kong Christian Service has been launching the "Make a Wish Come True" Programme since 2008. Over the past eight years, wishes of more than 1,700 families/ individuals were successfully fulfilled.

The programme aims at generating greater concern from the community for the needy and raising funds through direct donations from individuals and corporations to help eligible applicants from low-income or single-parent families and those who are elderlies, children with special needs, disabled persons and ethnic minorities, to make their humble Christmas and New Year wishes come true.

We sincerely invite you to join us at this Christmas to share the festive joy and blessings with those in need! With just a small donation (ways of donation), not only could you help the needy to get what they have been longing for, but more importantly, you could also bring them hope and empower them to go forward.

Wishes collected in 2016

This year, over 300 wishes have been collected from our service units. Here are just a few to share:

  • 85-year-old Granny Lee who needs to spend most of her daily hours on a wheelchair would like to get a high back chair to correct her sitting posture and curb the growth of bed sores.
  • Pab has been physically disabled and suffering from poor eyesight since a car crash few years ago. She is an active volunteer who teaches handicrafts in one of our service centres. Pab used to watch videos to enrich her handicraft knowledge and skills. Having a TV set is her wish. Not only would it provide her with infotainment, but also enable her to watch videos on a bigger screen while connecting to her mobile phone.
  • Kit wishes he could get a rice cooker to help prepare meals for his family so as to ease his mom’s household chores, particularly in taking care of his mentally-disabled sister.
  • Ling, who is physically disabled, would like to get a laptop computer to enhance her computer skills to pave way for future employment.
  • Young Mandy wishes she could have a vacuum insulated food jar to take her lunch to school. Money saved from eating out could spend on taking care of her father suffering from stroke.
  • Playing soccer has significantly improved 12-year-old Lok’s emotional and behavioral competence. He wishes he could equip himself with the necessaries to pursue his soccer playing.
  • 3-year-old Hoi Ming is on a long waitlist for child assessment service. Meanwhile, his mother would like to get a set of specially designed toys for Hoi Ming to enhance his fine motor skills.
Use of Donation

Funds raised will be used to help our service beneficiaries make their humble wishes come true. The year end surplus will be injected into the HKCS Service Development Fund to develop and render non-government-funded services for the disadvantaged and neglected.
