Employee Development Service (EDS) was established in 1991 as a local pioneer in Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) for various kinds of organisations in Hong Kong. Serving organisations in both the private and public sectors, EDS is the leading provider of EAP, with a full range of professional services, including counselling, consultation, training and workshops to cater for the changing needs of employees, their families and organisations as a whole.

EDS is one of the service units of Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS) and is directly overseen by the Chief Executive. HKCS was founded in 1952 and is one of the largest not-for-profit social service organisations in Hong Kong. HKCS has over 800 full-time professional and support staff, who together provide a variety of social services to all people in the community, regardless of age, sex, social class, religion or race. EDS has direct access to all the resources of the organisation and is strongly supported by other professionals within HKCS.
