Feedbacks to Policy and Consultation Paper

Policy advocacy is one of the major missions of Hong Kong Christian Service even after organisational restructuring last year, through the implementation by this Policy Research Committee and the Professional Assistant responsible for research and advocacy.

Besides sending opinion paper to relevant government bureaus to advocate for better policy, HKCS has also sent representatives to give oral presentation at Legco on various policy areas.

In the past year, Policy Research Committee also set up the Education Policy Sub-Committee to study and show concern about education policy in Hong Kong.

The Policy Research Committee discussed the following items in the past year:

  1. Guideline for controlling charitable fund-raising activities
  2. Nature Conservation Policy
  3. Career Guidance Programme for Higher Form Secondary Students
  4. Impact of SARS on older people
  5. Regulation of Health Claims
  6. Database Structure for Education Information
  7. Policies and Laws related to Elder Abuse
