PS Stands for Pyschotropic Substances. Psychotropic Substances refer to hallucinogens, depressants, stimulants, tranquillizers, cough medicine and organic solvents, etc.

33 Stands for 33, Granville Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon.

Background

The emerging problem of psychotropic substance has attracted much public attention in mid-80s. PS33 was for this reason established in March 1988, which became the first centre that provides detoxification and counselling services for psychotropic substance abusers.

Objectives
the drop-in area
  • To help the psychotropic substance abusers to abstain from their psychotropic-substance-taking habits and develop a healthy lifestyle;
  • To increase the psychotropic substance awareness of those vulnerable to psychotropic substance abuse and to steer them away from psychotropic substance;
  • To provide counselling and assistance to family members of psychotropic substance abusers so as to help them deal with the problems;
  • To provide professional training for allied professionals involved in the helping process with a view to facilitating their assistance to psychotropic substance abusers.

  • Potential psychotropic substance abusers;
  • Professionals, volunteers, interested persons and the general public.
Nature of the Service
  • Rehabilitative services for psychotropic substance abusers comprising assessment service, matching of mode of detoxification, relapse prevention, individual and group counselling service to help them resume normal functioning;
  • Reaching-out services for young psychotropic substance abusers;
  • Preventive education programmes for secondary school students of West Kowloon, potential or occasional psychotropic substance abusers;
  • Counselling service and supportive programmes for family members of the clients;
  • Expert information and advice on psychotropic substance abuse;
  • Drug related case consultation, case assessment and professional training programs for interested and needy persons; and
  • Enquiry service for the general public..
Service Entry and Exit

Service users can contact our social workers for enquiry and make applications. We also accept referrals for drug counseling service.

Service users can approach our social workers for discussion of the termination of service.

Opening Hours

Our service will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
