SERVICE MISSION AND OBJECTIVE

Clinical psychological service is dedicated to help our clients handle emotional and behavioural disturbances through the use of psychological knowledge and skills, which in turn fulfills the our objective of enhancing one's mental health and ability to adjust to life changes.

TARGET SERVICE USER

We provide clinical psychological service to people with problems in emotion, behaviour, personality or social relationship. Besides, people suffering from mental illness or mental retardation are also our target of service. There is no restriction on the applicant's age, sex or religion.

Besides, our service recipients have to fulfill the following:

  1. He/She is willing to come for interview.
  2. He/She is willing to provide true name and other basic personal information.
  3. His/Her mental state is adequate for normal interaction with others. If not, the applicant’s family has to participate in the application procedures and discuss the arrangement of service with us.
  4. He/She is not receiving the same or similar service at other organizations.
CONTENT AND FORMAT OF SERVICE

This service belongs to Family Networks of our agency and is provided by qualified clinical psychologist. The service includes the following:

  1. Intellectual/Psychological assessment:
    Assessment of client's intellectual and psychological functioning through the use of standardized psychological tests, interview and systematic behavioural observation
  2. Psychological treatment:
    Through the use of appropriate psychotherapy to handle client's cognitive and emotional reactions, reduce psychological disturbances as well as enhance one's adjustment
  3. Consultation service:
    Provide consultation to social workers regarding case management as well as professional advices on clinical psychological and mental health issues
  4. Other service:
    Training to other related professionals, provide public educational programs
APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Referral from social workers is required for our service. The referring social workers call us for enquiry and send us a completed referral form. Service will be arranged if the case is suitable to receive our service.

Anyone wishing to apply for clinical psychological service can call us and talk to our intake social worker for enquiry.

The clinical psychologist will arrange the date of first interview with the client with consideration to the nature and urgency of client's problem. Priority will be given to cases involving potential self-harm or harm to others.

On the other hand, if the application is not suitable, we will provide information about relevant services to the referrer and client or help the client to make referral to other appropriate service.

TERMINATION OF SERVICE

The clinical psychologist will make a service plan with the client, but we also respect client's choice. Clients can withdraw from the service voluntarily at any time during the course of psychological assessment or treatment.

In the following conditions, we can propose termination of service to the client:

  • The target problem of the client has been handled or service plan is accomplished.
  • Client's behaviour poses danger to other service users or staffs.
  • Client no longer fulfills the criteria of being our target service users (e.g. he/she receives service of the same nature from another agency).
  • The service is not suitable to the client's need.
  • Client do not contact us for three consecutive months.
FEE CHARGE

Our service is subsidized by the government and is free of charge.
