Are
Hong Kong people polite in the eyes of the tourists?
What are the impacts of Pop-Star drug-taking behavior
among the teenagers? How effective and efficient do
young people manage their time?
The answers could be found in the research presentation
conference, Top 21 Hong Kong Youth, which was organised
by our PS33 - Centre for Psychotropic Substance Abusers
and sponsored by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic
Education. The purpose of the program was to arouse
students' sense of social responsibility by enriching
them through participation.
Eight teams of Form 4 to 6 students from five secondary
schools in West Kowloon underwent four training sessions
on creative thinking, civic education and popular culture.
From there, each team selected a topic on social phenomenon
for further investigation. The teams presented their
research findings on 27 November 2004. The findings
were interesting and insightful and the presentations
were creative and lively. Outstanding presentations
were given awards by Mrs. Lai Fung Po-kun, District
Social Welfare Officer of Kowloon City. The research
findings will be exhibited among the secondary schools
in West Kowloon during the month of January 2005.
