Care & Love for Elders' Charity Tickets Fundraising

photoOur participation in the Care & Love for Elders' charity tickets fundraising campaign last year accomplished one big step of our long-term development plan of purchasing a Continuing Education Centre for the Elderly. The new premise will begin its services in January 2005. With last year's 170 different training courses organised, serving 1,800 clients, the new Centre is capable to allow more multi-functional programs for the elders. The activities offered will help them develop personal interests and potential, get involved in the community, widen their social exposure, as well as establish healthy personal relationships. All these will help the elders lead an abundant life in their old age.

we participated again in selling the charity tickets from 21 November 2004 to 1 January 2005. Major part of the funds raised continues to support the installments of the new premise. While the Shamshuipo Home Care Service Team will use the rest to start a Rehabilitation Centre for the Elderly. Our staff observed that the 130 clients whom we offered lunch service could seldom go anywhere due to their physical limitations. In fact, they needed overall caring. We saw the need to provide relevant rehabilitation equipment and tools for the elders to strengthen their bodies and to slow down the physical deterioration. Such a rehabilitation centre will help cultivate peer groups and social networking for them as well.

Our staff, clients and volunteers were recruited from all our various services to participate in the fundraising campaign. photoThey sold the tickets 38 times in different public areas during the period. Each charity ticket was sold for ten dollars and the total proceeds of sales net from the 15% administrative fee would be considered the raised funds.

The result will be announced at a later time upon the final financial report is ready.
