HKCS was once again invited by the Sun Yat-sen University
to help coordinate and teach the term course of Youth
Social Work for their third year students in the 2004
academic year. In addition to the experiences that will
be acquired in Hong Kong, students are encouraged to
discuss and analyse both the present and future needs
and services for the youths in Guangzhou. The three
main youth-related systems, family, school and the community,
are to be tackled. Taking them through the three different
stages, meaning developmental, preventive and remedial,
students will learn the theory and core values of youth
social work. They will be directed to understand various
youth issues as well as the related service trend. Eventually,
they learn the level of quality that professional youth
social worker shall attain.
From September to December 2004, 15 members of our
staff with different expertise in various youth and
family services will conduct 17 lecturers for the 36
third year students at the university. It is our genuine
hope that our contribution will give them valuable insights
on top of their academic teachings in this profession.
