National Psychotherapist Qualification Examination Training Course First Seen in Hong Kong

As the pace of daily life, the tempo at work as well as the academic tension is getting more and more rapid in the Mainland, the demand for psychotherapist are getting higher than ever. While psychotherapy is gradually developing in the Mainland, its evaluation and regulatory system has already been set up. It is quite similar to the situation in its early days in United States and some European countries. Practitioners are required to obtain a national qualification certificate before they starts a career in Psychotherapy in China.

Currently there are many designated training centres in China to prepare candidates for the qualification examination, but there is none in Hong Kong SAR. This year, for the first time in history, HKCS collaborates with the Guangdong Nan Tai Psychotherapist Professional Training Centre (an auxiliary unit of the Medical Faulty of Sun Yat-sen University) to conduct training courses to prepare practitioners in Hong Kong SAR for the examination.

The courses will last 15 weeks starting from August to December with 200 hours in total. Professionals from the Mainland will give lectures and most of which will take place in Hong Kong.

Through these training courses, we hope to encourage local psychotherapists to practice in the Mainland in order to help expedite the development of the profession.
