The Web Care Award, sponsored by the Internet Professionals
Association (iProA), is presented to companies and organisations
in recognition of their efforts in providing barrier-free
internet environment to needy communities and/or under-priviledged
groups. These groups include the disabled, the elderly,
the sick, the poor as well as women and children who
will have equal opportunity in receiving sharing the
benefits brought about by the development of internet
in Hong Kong.
The basis of the award is not on a competitive nature.
Its objective is to bridge digital divide; to educate
corporations, organizations and the public to attain
an accessible website; and to encourage provision of
barrier-free internet services.
HKCS
is among the 23 websites who fulfilled all three required
attributes namely: effective communication of ideas,
proper use of language and clever use of graphic design.
It has successfully passed all the judging criteria
of the second level of‘Easy Guide to Building No Barrier
Websites’.
The Web Care Award 2004 presentation ceremony was held
on 15 May at the Cyberport. The General Manager of our
Corporate Affairs & Community Relations Core Business,
Mr. Barry Wong and Ms. Karen Tam, our website designer
attended the ceremony on behalf of the Agency.
