Project SASA (South Asians Support Alliance) launched
in March 2004, was sponsored by the Community Investment
and Inclusion Fund of the Government. The Project aims
at developing a mutual supportive network among South
Asians as well as those with the local communities in
Shamshuipo and Kwun Tong districts.
Project SASA is a special pioneer project in engaging
the ethnic minority groups., Their major emphasis is
to encourage active participation of our service targets.
It aims at (1) enhancing South Asians’ understanding
and accessibility to community resources available to
support their social adjustment in Hong Kong; (2) facilitating
self-help and mutual support among South Asian ethnic
communities; (3) equipping South Asians with the necessary
living skills so they can fully develop their potentials,
and (4) promoting social assimilation between South
Asians and the local people. It is our goal that South
Asians become more involved and empowered resulting
in the overall enhancement of our society.
Recently, we have started to enrol members to join
our social skills classes, family activities and community
visits. We have also begun to provide drop-in service
and consultation service to South Asians. We are pleased
to witness an increase in membership and look forward
to more new members in the future. We would like to
extend our invitations to all parties concerned to join
us in building up a harmonious society.
The office of Project SASA (South Asians Support Alliance)
is located at the sub-office of Shamshuipo central Happy
Teens Club. Your participation and opinion are most
welcome.
