Cooperative Graduate Program with the Department of Theology of the Chinese University

One of our missions for Service Project for the Church is to train ministers and ministry leaders in shepherding their herd. The cooperative Graduate Program on Theology with the Chinese University Chung Chi College Department of Theology is offering a special course on "Counseling and Family Support". Subjects include the fundamentals and techniques on marital counseling; today's challenges that family encounter; methods on handling marital trials such as: extra-marital affairs, domestic / spousal abuse; managing spouse's mental illness; and divorce counseling. The Principal Coordinator of our Counseling Service, Mrs. Cammy Wong, spearheads the course. Mrs. Wong wishes that the participants in the course will gain a systematic and comprehensive perspective in mediating marital disputes and will find the knowledge not only theoretically sound but also useful and practical so that they can effectively apply what they learn in actual settings.

Professor Kwan Sui-man, the director of Applied Education at the Department of Theology, states that the cooperative effort with HKCS in offering this special course aims to present ministers, Christian leaders and all those interested in the related subject an opportunity to learn the latest theories and skills in professional counseling in order to effectively serve in this ministry area. In addition, such cooperation creates a chance to share between those in church ministries and in family counseling and mediation services.
