It is clear that the social welfare policy in Hong
Kong is not of one that is moving towards a welfare
state. As new and demanding needs in our community are
increasing, partnerships among government, businesses
and social service sector are called to create a just,
participatory and sustainable society.
HKCS has been working with business partners in providing
service meeting the challenges facing our community.
We support the Scheme of the Good Corporate Citizenship
launched by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service
that Caring Company Logo would be awarded to nominated
companies in recognition of their contributions in the
areas of volunteering, employing the vulnerable, mentoring,
being family friendly, partnering and giving.
The companies nominated by us and presented the Caring
Company Logo Awards are Gallery 13, Lai On Products
Industrial Ltd, for their contribution and support in
the promotion of Children's Arts in pre-school education;
Bauhaus, Image by YY Ltd., for their placements and
training courses provided for the high-risk young females
members of Project CITY - City Intensive Training for
Youth Program; RoadShow for their free broadcasting
time for the "Hopefully Yours" series produced
by our Communications Centre in helping Hong Kong people
to regain confidence shedding fear, stress and anxiety;
and Handi Design Ltd for free professional advise given
to our Pui Oi School in solving the architectural challenges
when they built a special occupational therapy training
room.
The purpose of the acknowledgement is to arouse the
public awareness of the social responsibility in every
citizen. A caring community spirit can be built through
cultivating corporate citizenship and strategic partnership
between business and social service sector.
