The On Wah Day Activity Centre, which was set up
in March 2003, offered services for the mentally handicapped adults
aged from 15 and above with moderate to severe grade.
We provide services in helping clients to develop
self-care ability, vocational capability, different ways to spend
their leisure to develop a healthy community life and to prepare
them for further rehabilitation services. We also offer support
to their family members or guardians, who may have difficulties
in caring for them. Furthermore, we educate the community in that
they learn to understand and to accept the mentally handicapped.
Our works include a full-scale evaluation of client's ability, project
programs, basic health care and parental counseling.
In spite of serving a maximum capacity of
65 clients who are all referrals from the Central Referral System
for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department, we
offer an additional 10 vacancies to those who are on our waiting
list for day services as well as 3 vacancies to the ones who require
Respite Services.
