thanksgivingOn 1st November 2002, over 120 people attended he HKCS Thanksgiving Service held at the Ward Memorial Methodist Church. The ceremony was simple, without any exquisite decorations, but solemn. On behalf of the agency, a choir, formed by the staff and students of our Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre, gave our thanks and praise to God through the hymn "My Lord Is Like A Shepherd". thanksgivingDr. Kung Lap-yan, Associate Professor of Theology Division of Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was invited to preach a sermon titled "To Uphold Righteousness and Served with Mercy"(Matthew 20:1-16). The agency's missions and its development stages were clearly expressed in the sermon. Eulogies, delivered in such unity by therepresentatives of our Management Committee and of those from Hong Kong ChristianCouncil, our Director, staff and volunteers expressing HKCS's objectives and directions, were truly touching!

banquetTo openly acknowledge and appreciate those who had been supporting our work and keeping our friendship, a 50th Anniversary Banquet was held for them at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers on 26th November. A cocktail reception and a photo display with the theme, "We are the HKCS people: the team that keeps our mission for 50 years", kick-started the wonderful evening. banquetAs a prelude to the banquet, he agency's new video was presented followed by the welcoming remarks from Reverend Li Ping-kwong, Chair man of HKCS, and a speech delivered by the Honorable Dr. Yeoh Eng-kiong JP, Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food. After a toast initiated by our committee member Dr. Yeoh and our Director, Mr. Ng Shui-lai, the dinner began with a prayer led by Reverend Josephine Tso Shui-wan. To everyone present that evening, the banquet would never be an ordinary one but a meaningful time spent with some meaningful and very special people.
