Students
of the Sixth Form Section of our Kwun Tong Vocational Training
Centre had taken part in the 2nd HSBC Young IT Entrepreneur Awards
Competition this year. Two groups of students had won the Certificate
of Excellence and the Certificate of Merit. The school also won
the Nominator Award as the highest number of teams qualifying
for round 2. The proposal on 'phone show coupon' won the Silver
Award among the finalists of which formal presentation was made
on 14 March.
During
the competition, once the application was accepted by the adjudicators,
students were required to join training camps from where they
would learn to be entrepreneurs. Things that they would learn
would be like writing business plans and proposals. The principal
of KTVTC Mr. David Ng claimed that this was a precious opportunity
for the students because they had learnt the "Know how"
in starting up new businesses as well as the practical knowledge
in business world. He says, "And what is most important is
that in more than four hundred groups (over one thousand students),
our students are among the winners; this certainly helps to affirm
their self-esteem and confidence."
