The two-year pilot program, 'Creative Teaching
Training', launched in August 2000 was a subsidized program
supported by the Quality Education Fund. All eight childcare
centres of Hong Kong Christian Service were granted the support.
The objectives were to modify the teacher's interpretation and
attitude on 'creativity' as well as to stimulate their creativity
potentials. Hence finally in forming a creative teaching circle
that provided an interactive platform for teachers to learn,
to implement, to discuss as well as to share ideas in strengthening
teaching skills and methods and to elevate one's professional
esteem.
Among the various activities, there was the 'Multi-
Creativity Fun Fair" which took place in four consecutive
Sundays from November to December 2001 in four districts. Through
this meaningful parent-child activity, teachers of our eight
childcare centres together with the parents aimed to promote
creative teaching and to elicit the importance of children finding
fun learning; whilst the final goal was to advocate the new
culture of Child Education. It was encouraging to see a total
of 1,773 families participated.
Starting from 1998, our Child Care Service had
been receiving grants from the Quality Education Fund to support
pilot programs on creative teaching & related research activities.
