With
the support from the Student Discipline Section of Education
Department, our Mobile Activities Centre is conducting a pilot
project called "Self discipline through Adventure in School"
in nine primary schools. The objectives of the project are:
To provide school-based(Sb)Adventure-Based
Education(ABE) to primary school pupils, whose behaviour have
caused concern, with the aim of enhancing their self- discipline,
self-confidence,
interpersonal relationship and motivation to study.
To demonstrate to and collaborate with teachers
in conducting ABE in school so that they learn from the Centre
the concepts and skills in conducting SbABE programs.
A carefully designed program was developed taking
into consideration the time available for each meeting, the
background of the participants and
the purpose of the program. To make the program attractive,
we gave a special name to it - "Genesis for Galactic Heroes".
A story line was also created to facilitate positive changes
from the participants and to add more fun to the program . Each
school will have ten meetings including a full day or half-day
activity outside the school premises. The projected number of
participants from each school is approximately 20 to 30 students
.
The running time for this project is from October
2001 to May 2002.
