We treasure the encouragement
we would receive from time to time; they are a gift to us who
work in the social service field. There are also encouraging
supports through monetary or materials donations and volunteers
that we would like to share our gratitude with you:
In March, we received a donation
of HKD$50,000.00 from Fast Base Enterprises Limited to our Yuen
Long Outreaching Team for the support of its 'De-labeling team',
a specially formed group to raise the society's awareness and
empathy of the problems the youth are facing today. By serving
the community through monthly volunteer work, the marginal youth
have regained their self-esteem and start to show changes in
their behavior. They hope the community will gradually accept
them.
The volunteer group of the
Hong Kong Correctional Services Department donated to our Residential
Service for the Elderly Wah Hong Hostel twenty tailor-made bed
bumpers and new curtains which amounted to HKD$20,000.00. A
donation ceremony was held on April 13, 2001. The group also
volunteered to hang up the curtains and set up the bed bumpers
for the elderly. Their kindness and considerations were greatly
appreciated by the elders.
A donation of HKD$25,000.00
from Modern Educational Research Society Limited and an anonymous
donation of HKD$40,000.00 were designated to support the expenses
of the 'Early Childhood Education of the New Century Conference'.
The event, which took place in Beijing in May, was co-organized
by our Day Care Centre Service and Beijing Normal University.
The conference was definitely a meaningful event for the practitioners
of both places.
