The Central Day Care Centre, which is our second day care centre located in the commercial district, was opened on June 1, 1999. The Central Day Care Centre is situated in the Central Commercial Tower in Nathan Road. It is the most expensive day care centre of the Social Welfare Department since 1997 when they began to purchase and provide their own property for day care centres. Its service capacity is 112, with 4 classes divided according to age. There were 68 new students registered in August for the new academic year. Parents accompanied children to attend the adaptation course

The objectives of our day care centres service is to educate and take care of the children of working parents. Occasional day care service for parents with emergency need began on Oct 1, 1999. Integrated programme will be in service in the near future.

According to the Centre Supervisor Miss Rani Dung Yuk Ha, the Centre consists of 5 activity rooms and 1 big muscle room. According to the service capacity, there are 8 teachers, 1 supervisor and 5 centre assistants in the Centre. Since many of the parents are either working within the district or nearby district, the Centre gives them easy access to drop off and pick up their children as it is located near MTR station. Furthermore, since there are only a few government subsidized day care centres in Yau Ma Tei, Tsimshatsui, and Mongkok, Central Day Care Centre can fully fulfilled the needs of parents who are in search of day care centre service in the surrounding areas.
