The Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre and Communications Centre assist
The Hong Kong Food Council in the CD Rom Production

Most of the food poisoning cases are caused by mistakes occurred during the food processing or food packaging procedures. In order to improve the quality of food processing and raise the awareness of food hygiene within the industry, the Hong Kong Food Council collaborated with the Hong Kong Productivity Council in producing 2 CD Roms of "Basic Food Hygiene and Prevention of Food Poisoning for Food Processing". The 2 councils have appointed our Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre(KTVTC) as their production consultant and our Communications Centre to assist the audio visual production.

A budget of HK$1.61 million, subsidized by the Industry Department, is used in producing and marketing the 2 CD Roms. The first CD Rom is a guideline to food hygiene and food processing, the second CD Rom is a promotion of the food industry to local and overseas customers.

The production of the first Basic Food Hygiene CD Rom, "Food Hygiene and Applications", has completed. Mr Pong Wai Ip, Vice-Principal of KTVTC, was invited to the Food Hygiene and Applications Seminar to give a briefing of the concept of the food hygiene and prevention of food poisoning. He also shared his experience about organizing the related course in the KTVTC, with the Employees Retraining Board and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, UK.

Mr Pong explained that the content of the 2 CD Roms is mainly derived from the course material of KTVTC's Basic Food Hygiene Course. It is expected that 5,000 copies will be produced for each CD Rom title and they will be distributed among the various associations of the food industry.
