In today's society, everything demands satisfaction guarantee. This has thus influenced the elderly volunteers to required themselves to practice high quality voluntary service.
In the eight year of the Elderly Volunteer Award Scheme organized by HKCS, there were 1,364 elders participated in 50,779.42 hours of voluntary service.
As a continuation of last year's theme "Promoting High Quality Voluntary Service", an "Outstanding Elderly Volunteer Award" was created for this year to encourage elderly volunteers to practice high quality voluntary service. There are 3 volunteers (aged 70 to 79) who have received this award. They put in their best efforts to promote elderly voluntary service.
Mrs June Sherry, Chairperson of Party on Volunteer Movement, was invited as the guest of honor in the 8th Annual Award Ceremony. Among the 468 elderly volunteers awarded, 68 received the Diamond Award, 94 received the Gold Award, 177 received the Silver Award, and 197 received the Bronze Award. These volunteers came from 39 local service units and their age from 55 to 97 years old.
