The 32nd Graduation Ceremony of the Kwun Tong

Vocational Training Centre

On July 15, 1997, the 32nd graduation ceremony of the Kwun Tong

Vocational Training Centre was held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Mrs Helen Yu, OBE, JP, Director of Education was the guest of honor at the

ceremony. Her advice to the graduates was to carry on, keep up the good work,

and learn in every way to prepare for the tough competition in the society.

 

There were 1,126 students taking their final examinations and the

number of graduates was 788.

 

The results in public examinations are also encouraging : 2 students

obtained second places in the Cost Accounting, LCC&I 2nd Level and

Bookkeeping and Accounts, LCC&I 2nd Level respectively; another student

won a bronze medal in Word Processing, Intermediate Pitman. Students in the

Design and Photography Department also won a total of 42 prizes in 9 open

competitions.

 

When discussing the development of the Centre, Principal Mr Ng Tat Wai

said, "Our Advanced Certificate in Accountancy is now recognized by the Hong

Kong Association of Accounting Technicians. Graduates can be exempted from

3 of their examination papers. Some other courses are also now recognized by

the Barton Institute of TAFE of Australia. Graduates who want to pursue further

studies in Australia can exempt part of the required credits. A Liberal Studies

course is added to the HKAL Section in this year, the modules are environmental

protection and human relationship."
