Showing Care through Walkathon

In echo to the theme "Participation Shows Caring", more than 1,600 supporters participated in the fifth HKCS Walkathon held on 13 April at Shatin Park and raised over $430,000 for supporting our service development.

The fund raised will be used for installing air-conditioners in elderly hostels, funding the "Volunteer Without Boundary" program to help the neglected youths, and timely development of new services in the future in response to emerging social service needs.

The Walkathon started with performances by service users of this year's main beneficiary service units. It was then followed by a kick-off ritual performed by the officiating guest team which consisted of Mr. Darwin Chen, HKCS Management Committee Vice-chairman, other representatives of HKCS management, as well as service recipients of our different service types, volunteers and corporate partners.

As a heart-warming wrap-up for the walk, participants eagerly put heart-shape stickers on the "Board of Caring" at the finishing point. They pledged to continue giving their hearts to care for the needy and supporting HKCS in serving and bringing hope to the needy.

Once again, we thank all individual and corporate participants, donors and sponsors for the support. We look forward to seeing you in our Walkathon next year in April.
