Men's Project in Tin Shui Wai North
Tin Shui Wai, especially Tin Shui Wai North, has been identified as one of the most deprived and at-risk districts in Hong Kong. At present, there are quite a number of different social service units and special projects operating in the district, including our Tin Heng Community Networking Project, which has been serving the residents of Tin Heng Estate since September 2005.
From our working experience and the sharing of other service units within the district, it is found that most of the social service users are women, children, youth and elderly. Adult men's participation is rare. We believe that to build up a more caring community with a stronger sense of mutual help, men's participation is essential. Based on the ample experience of serving Tin Heng Estate in the past two years and our understanding of the characteristics of men in the district, we are now going to launch a new service project specially planned for men, namely, Men's Project in Tin Shui Wai North (TN in short), with the purposes to enhance TN men's sense of self esteem, to improve TN men's family relationship and to strengthen TN men's social and community networks.
Men's Project in Tin Shui Wai North will be a 2-year project. It will start servicing in August 2008. It will collaborate closely with Tin Heng Community Networking Project in its service delivery and daily operation. Both projects are funded by The Community Chest of Hong Kong.
