Our Chief Executive Attended Two Meaningful Anniversary Events
The 5th Anniversary of Shanghai LeQun Social Work Service
Our Agency has been supporting Shanghai LeQun Social Work Service (LeQun), a non-governmental organization providing professional social service in Shanghai ever since they got started in 2003. This year is LeQun’s 5th Anniversary. Our Chief Executive, Mr. Ng Shui-lai, one of its board members was invited to attend the celebration.
The ceremony took place on 1 March at the Community Centre in Pudong. Many social work professors, teachers, students, civil affairs officials, working partners, service clients and nearly 100 guests attended the event. Some of the attendees included Professor Xu Yong-xiang, Dean of the Faculty of Social & Public Management, East China University of Science and Technology and some representatives from the Chinese Communist Youth League of Shanghai Pudong New Area.
LeQun was also awarded as the “Model Unit of Social Work” by Mr. Huang Zhi-hua, Director of Social Work Department, Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau. Moreover, staff from LeQun shared their working experience and feelings during the event. Their contributions and hard work were then acknowledged by the guests, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
The 100th Anniversary of Shanghai YMCA & YWCA
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Shanghai YMCA & YWCA. A grand opening of the new YMCA & YWCA building was held on 26 January. Our Chief Executive, Mr. Ng Shui-lai was invited to be one of the honourable guests to officiate the ceremony and to do some sharing. He delivered a sermon on Micah 6:8, “Do Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly”, which was very touching. That day kicked off the commencement of the 100th Anniversary Celebration and there will be a number of events taking place throughout the year.
