The Outstanding Social Worker of The Year Award is a public tribute paid to the contribution from some exceptional social workers. For the year 2006, out of the 27 nominees, our very own Ms. Hon Siu Wan, project leader of Breaking the Cycle of Abuse, was honored with the Award.

Ms. Hon is a seasoned social worker with 20 years of field experience under her belt. Most of her experience was working with the under-privileged sectors, from the early community development service, youth outreaching service to the recent service on pregnant women who are psychotropic substance abusers. She opened up herself to accompany her clients to strive to overcome their crisis and to go through changes and growth. She has a strong belief in the miracle of 'Life influencing life'.

The primary host for the Award was Hong Kong Social Workers' Association. The intent for the award is more than just an honor given to a person but a public acknowledgement of the Social Work Profession.
