| With the collaboration between Dr. Fung Lai Chu, Annis (Assistant Professor of the Department of Applied Social Studies, City University of Hong Kong) and Happy Teens Club of HKCS, "Project C.A.R.E. - Children and Adolescence at Risk Education" has been launched from September 2006 to August 2007. This Project is sponsor by the Quality Education Fund.
Positive responses have been received from schools since its recruitment. More than 70 schools enrolled in the Project. However, with limited quota, 10 schools were finally selected to participate in the Project. During the Project period, tailor-made intervention programs on bullying were organized. Meetings were arranged with the principals and personnel of each participating school to discuss strategies for tackling their concerns of school bullying. Teachers training workshops, student talks and parent talks were then organized for each participating school based on their needs. Through in-depth assessment, suitable students were selected to join the therapeutic groups of the Project. In these groups, cognitive-behavioral strategies have been adopted to enhance the interpersonal and anger management of the participants so that their aggressive and bullying behaviors can be diminished. The set of preceding programs will be organized in both terms during the whole school year.
Through these interventions, the Project aims at developing an indigenous work model and strategies on tackling school bullying in Hong Kong. More information on the Project can be obtained from the Project's Principal Coordinator, Ms. Yvonne Chak at 2708-7423.
