The new phenomenon of “party drugs” has given rise to a whole new group of "substance abusers". These people are different from the traditional ones in terms of the pattern of drug use and their underlying needs. In order to tackle their special needs, PS33 launched a 2-year project named "RAM.Express" in September 2006. "R" represents "Reviewing of Life", "A" represents "Activating of Life" and "M" represents "Mapping of Life". The Beat Drugs Fund supports the project.
RAM.Express aims at helping substance abusers aged 14 to 26 review their health conditions and different areas of life through different tools, emphasizing the disparity between the "drug-taking" life and the ideal life, then, assist them to search and plan a new direction in life.
Based on the concept of "Brief Motivational Intervention", RAM.Express have 4 core service components, namely: Body Check-up, through a series of body check-ups, investigate the recent health condition of the participants; Motivational Interviewing, with reference to the data collected from the body check-ups, enhance awareness of the consequence of drug use and the possible impact on the health conditions; Life Searching by using different psychological tests and programs, assist the participants to find out their real needs and focus of life. Programs consist of : improving health condition, exploring one's own personality, acquiring social skills and regulating a happy life; Life-plan Consultation, every participant has a "Life Plan" consultancy report on the mapping of his future life.
