In the past 55 years,
thousands of dedicated and talented men and women
joined Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS) as staff.
They were the people who made HKCS what we are
today.
People may have different reasons for joining
HKCS, but by and large they all share our vision,
identify with our mission and pride themselves
to be a member of HKCS. While one may work in
various units and hold different positions, HKCS
people are all committed to a society that is
free, democratic and caring wherein people live
in peace, enjoy the fruits of their labour, and
are encouraged to develop their unique gifts through
interdependence.
Many of our former colleagues remain in the social
service field while others work in different occupations.
A good number of former colleagues reside outside
Hong Kong, particularly, in the city of Toronto.
They keep in touch with each other, like members
of an alumni association.
HKCS is a family of caring and sharing people.
It is not because of the fact that they have once
worked with HKCS that unites them together but
because they are all committed to working towards
a more just, participatory and sustainable society.
They all seek to serve and not to be served.
Hong Kong Christian Service is more than an organization.
It is a movement of the Christian Diakonia. It
is a network of people. As HKCS moves towards
celebrating its 55th anniversary, we shall try
our best to strengthen this network. We shall
try to update all those who are in this network
with what is happening to Hong Kong Christian
Service. We welcome all of you to drop by for
a visit anytime at your convenience. |
