Youths Heart for the Olympics

The 2008 Beijing Olympics is not only a grand event for the athletes but it will also be very meaningful for the youths of Hong Kong. With the commencement of a series of activities based on the 'Heart for the Olympics', our youths will have ample opportunity to participate, exchange ideas, experience and learn from these events. They can contribute and be benefited at the same time. The events planned are multi-dimensional. Some of these include an exchange team to Beijing, the Olympian Experience Camp, co-planting of the Olympian Forest by Beijing/Hong Kong youths, visiting teams from past Olympian champions, and also recruitment and training of volunteers.

photo’Heart for the Olympics’ will take place for a span of 3 years. It is initiated by the All-China Youth Federation Committee (Hong Kong Committee) and organized by over 80 youth service centres, organizations and youth clubs. We are one of the organizers who support specifically the 'Youths Heart for the Olympics' division.

Our Assistant Chief Executive, Mr. Suen Lai Sang, attended the opening ceremony for 'Heart for the Olympics' in Hong Kong on 9 November. He also joined the 'Visit Beijing Group', headed by Dr. Ho Chi Ping, Secretary for Home Affairs HKSAR from 11 13 November. He, along with over 120 team members attended and witnessed a number of activities related to the 'Olympics 1000 Days Countdown'.

Mr. Suen highly recommended 'Youths Heart for the Olympics' to the Hong Kong youths. He expressed that active participation in this rare opportunity would surely deepen and broaden the experience and maturity they have in life.
