Our Commitment to the Development of Social Welfare in Shanghai

Shanghai LeQun Social Work Service (LeQun) is the first non-governmental organization (NGO) providing professional social work in Shanghai. It was established in February 2003 with the help of HKCS. Since then, we have always been doing our best to provide professional training and consultation to LeQun. In the coming three months, we will receive three of their key staff who are also potential leaders. The purpose is to consolidate their clinical techniques on frontline work and to give them more training on management skills.

At the same time, to assist in the development of social work in Mainland China based on the motto, 'Accomplishing mutual benefit, Working together,' HKCS also signed a letter of intent with the Pudong New Area Social Work Association in Shanghai to cooperate and build a closer relationship together.

Between the years 2005-2009, the Agency will team up a group of specialists to participate in publishing a social work case handbook. Moreover, HKCS will jointly organize the Social Work Festival in Shanghai for every October starting from 2006 with the Association. We will hold workshops, regular meetings, etc. to provide training on social work supervision to the Association and its partners, in order to enhance the professional standard and quality in this area.

By widening our network in Shanghai, HKCS hopes to serve more needy people in the future.
