The Integrated Children
and Youth Service has been allocated $100,000
from the Office of the Government Chief Information
Officer. The money is currently used to launch
‘A Healthy Internet for A New Generation’ program.
The aim is to promote the healthy use of the internet
and to help youths with internet addiction tendencies
to regain self-control.
The scheme takes place from November 2005 to
September 2006. We hope to promote the message
of healthy internet use through a series of lectures
and large-scale activities. Our target audience
will be youths and the general public. The scheme
includes working with primary and secondary schools
in the area of counseling. A series of assistance
programs will be provided to youths with internet
addiction tendencies. These include computer lessons,
challenging activities and volunteers training
and servicing. The goal is to elevatethe youth's
sense of accomplishment and to re-orientate their
motivation, so that they can regain their sense
of self-control in the end.
