Jockey Club Anderson Community Support Network

Jockey Club Anderson Community Support Network

Background

Anderson Road Public Housing Development Project in Kowloon East is divided into North and South zones, i.e. On Tat Estate and On Tai Estate. Social service is inevitably one of the crucial components to support this large population settled in the new community. In view of this, our project Jockey Club Anderson Community Support Network, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, aims at building a caring community and promoting the spirit of neighborhood support. It also helps to identify and provide support to families in needs.

This Project is a three-year project, starting from October 2016 to September 2019. We take up the role of planning, implementation and coordination for the enhancement and facilitation of cross-sector collaboration to develop a better community network among the residents.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the neighborhood relationship and cultivate a sense of community belonging among residents.
  • Identify and develop the strengths and capacities of the residents, in particular the young people for community building.
  • Assist needy residents and their families to overcome adjustment problems in the new living environment.

Strategies and Contents

  • Network Weaving - strengthen the neighborhood relationship; cultivate a positive and harmonious atmosphere in the community via a series of mass programs.
  • Finding Community Connectors - emphasis on discovering the strengths and assets available in the residents as well as the community.
  • Forming Support Networks - explore and match resources of the residents to help each other and contribute to the community.
  • Sharing Experiences and Successes - hold Anderson Festival to recognize and reward those who have contribution to the community.
