Web Care Award

Web Care Award

'Web Care Award' is the highlight event of the 'Web Care Campaign'. It aims to promote the Web Care concept in Hong Kong, so as to encourage the public as well as private organizations to provide barrier free Internet services. The 'Easy Guide to Building No Barrier Web Sites' booklet was published by the iProA (the Internet Professionals Association) in 2001 to provide guidelines to web site designers, commercial organizations and media channels on how to produce web sites that can be used by all members of the community.

Our efforts in building a "No Barrier website" to cater for the needs of people with disabilities are recognized as Excellent. This year, we are honored to be awarded the "Diamond Award", which is the highest honor of Web Care Award and is organized by Internet Professional Association (iProA), with nearly 200 websites participating. We are one of the five organizations to receive the "Diamond Award" and the only social welfare agency that got this award.

Diamond Award at 2010

Instead of presenting three awards like in the past years, Diamond, Ruby and Jade Award as well as Certificate of Merit will be granted to websites achieving different levels of web accessibility in 2010. The Web Care Award can better suit the demands of people with disabilities and fulfill the W3C requirements, after the updated judging criteria and list of awards. The Diamond Award website does not only pass the test by W3C Validator and Screen Reader - its website design can also fit the needs of the visual impaired; moreover, the awardees area is selected by the Visual Impaired Network.
